So What's Fluid Mobility Yoga?

Fluid Mobility Yoga classes are an amalgamation of yoga, mobility exercises and self myofascial release through foam rolling and trigger point self massage.

Here is our list for home exercise equipment swaps for online self myofascial release classes like Fluid Mobility Yoga:



Tennis Ball

(For Fluid Mobility Yoga classes)


If you can find a tennis ball that has a little give - perfect! (I love my Penn tennis balls). Have a best friend🐶🐕‍🦺? See if they will let you borrow one that's not too chewed up.


Swaps:

  • One of my former teacher trainers mentioned that she found some of the best Thera balls are at the toy store - think Pink ball or squishy bounce balls.

  • Pilates ball- with the sand in them for a gentle release would work.

  • How about your hand/knuckles/fist (for some applications)? Yes!

  • The funniest suggestion from a student was a tomato. Sadly, it won't work (unless you want to make tomato sauce on your yoga mat...yummy! (Thanks Judy for the laugh!)



Foam Roller


Ideally you want something that isn't too hard. A 3 ft' Roller is ideal for when we go on our backs, but a smaller one will work too!


Swaps:

  • A thick pool noodle would work.

  • How about a rolling pin? Sure.. you can control the pressure manually - and make a nice pizza crust to go with your tomato sauce. (Sorry, I couldn't resist the dad joke! I'm also part Italian from Cranston, RI... so Eh! No problem).

  • Soft yoga blocks could be used for some applications.

  • A Wall- believe or not I have some modifications that will work for some exercises.

Reminders:

  • As always, be mindful as you move and use caution with your swaps. We want the props to enhance our fitness, not cause roadblocks or injury.

  • Most of, if not all of our online mind-body classes can be done without any equipment.

  • If you are doing a swap for any online Zoom class, be sure to tell the instructor what you have during check in, so they can show you how to use that particular swap as we move throughout class.

  • Don't let anything stop you from doing something good for yourself!
